Finding Calm in Chaos

Stress shows up when we feel pressed for time, have many demands or worry about things we cannot change. It is normal, but if we let it build, it can drain our energy and cloud our thinking. The simple trick is to pause and ask ourselves what part of the situation we can actually influence. When we focus on our own actions – a breath, a short walk, or a kind word – we take back control. Why does this matter? Because the body reacts to stress with tension, fast heartbeat and shallow breathing, which over time harms health and mood. By practising the pause each day, we train our mind to stay calmer, improve concentration and feel more confident. Start with a tiny habit: notice one stressful moment, breathe in for four seconds, hold two, breathe out for six, and notice the change.

Actionable Takeaway

Take a brief pause when you feel stressed, breathe in for four counts, hold two, exhale for six counts, and notice how your body feels.
