Understanding Your Emotions, Understanding Yourself
Emotional intelligence means noticing what you feel and why, and using that knowledge to guide how you act. It also means seeing how others might feel and responding with care. When you can manage your own moods and understand the moods of people around you, everyday interactions become smoother and less stressful. You can start small. When you feel a rush of anger or frustration, pause and name the feeling – 'I am angry because…'. Then ask yourself what you need in that moment. Try to listen fully when someone shares their thoughts, without planning your reply. These tiny steps build a habit of self-awareness and empathy that improves relationships and decision-making. Why does this matter? Because emotions shape the choices we make and the way we connect with others. By tuning into them, you gain clearer thinking, less conflict, and a stronger sense of wellbeing.
