RM100k Boost for School Reform

The deputy minister announced that every state education department (JPN) and district education office (PPD) will nominate schools for the Ministry of Education’s new reform programme. Selected schools will each receive a cash grant of RM100,000 to fund projects that align with the national agenda of improving teaching quality, digital readiness and student outcomes. The nomination process will start this month, with criteria focusing on schools that demonstrate strong leadership, community involvement and a clear plan for using the funds. This infusion aims to fast‑track reforms at the grassroots level and showcase successful models for other institutions. Local authorities hope the funding will also encourage innovative teaching methods and stronger partnerships with parents and businesses.

Schools can tap the RM100k grant to pilot reforms, upgrade tech and train teachers, giving them a head start in the national improvement drive.

By channeling cash directly to schools, the MOE accelerates its reform agenda, turning policy on paper into tangible change. Successful pilots can be replicated nationwide, raising overall education standards and demonstrating how targeted investment drives innovation at the classroom level.
