Bersatu-PAS Talks Collapse

Bersatu has disclosed the details of its recent negotiations with PAS over the deadlock in Negeri Sembilan. Both parties met in Kuala Lumpur on May 22, hoping to broker a power‑sharing arrangement that would stabilise the state assembly after a series of defections. However, fundamental disagreements on cabinet posts and the role of the Menteri Besar proved insurmountable, and the talks ended without an accord. Bersatu accused PAS of demanding excessive concessions, while PAS warned that any deal lacking clear policy commitments would be untenable. The breakdown leaves the state government in limbo, with opposition parties poised to test the ruling coalition’s cohesion.

With the state assembly hanging in balance, any delay in forming a stable government could stall infrastructure projects, affect public services, and erode investor confidence in Negeri Sembilan, a key economic hub in Malaysia.
