Johor Boosts Guardrails After Child Fall

The Johor state government has earmarked RM3 million to replace every guardrail at the Desa Mutiara public‑low‑cost housing (PPR) estate after a child fell from a unit. The funding will also support a comprehensive safety audit of roughly 15,000 public flats across the state, targeting structural hazards, faulty railings and other risks. Officials say the move is a direct response to the incident, aiming to prevent similar accidents and restore confidence among residents. The programme is slated to begin within weeks, with contractors appointed to carry out the upgrades and inspections promptly.
