Bar pushes for national harmony blueprint

The Malaysian Bar has urged the government to craft a comprehensive National Harmony framework aimed at easing rising racial and religious sensitivities. Citing recent flashpoints that have strained inter‑communal relations, the Bar argues that a clear, legally‑anchored guide can promote mutual respect, prevent discrimination and reinforce Malaysia’s multicultural identity. The proposal calls for education programmes, dispute‑resolution mechanisms and regular monitoring of hate speech, with input from civil society, religious bodies and minority groups. By institutionalising these safeguards, the Bar hopes to turn reactive measures into proactive nation‑building tools.
