Two civil servants detained in fraud probe

The Malaysian Anti‑Corruption Commission (SPRM) has taken a senior administrative assistant and an assistant officer from a Perlis state department into custody. Both are being asked to assist the probe into a fabricated claim for RM114,000.

Investigators say the two civil servants will be questioned about how the bogus claim was prepared and who benefitted. Their cooperation is expected to help trace the source of the false submission and recover the misappropriated amount.

This development signals that even low‑level officials can be called upon to aid anti‑corruption work, reassuring taxpayers that misuse of public money will be scrutinised and that vigilance is a shared responsibility.
