UPSR and PT3: Return by 2026?

The Education Ministry announced it will conduct a comprehensive review of the former national examinations, UPSR and PT3, with a deadline set for the end of 2026. The move follows years of debate among teachers, parents and policymakers about the merits of re‑introducing these assessments. If the review concludes that reinstating the tests will improve learning standards and provide clearer benchmarks, the exams could make a comeback in primary and secondary schools. Conversely, the ministry may decide to retain the current assessment framework, leaving the status quo unchanged.
