UN Rally Secures Hormuz Passage

The United Nations, led by Bahrain, has adopted a resolution that condemns Iranian attacks on Gulf neighbours and demands unrestricted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. With the backing of 112 countries, the text sends a clear diplomatic signal that the international community will not tolerate threats to one of the world’s busiest oil corridors. The strait carries roughly a fifth of global petroleum supplies, so any disruption ripples through energy markets and economies worldwide. By formalising a collective stance, the resolution seeks to deter further aggression, protect commercial vessels, and stabilise a region already fraught with tension. It also calls on member states to cooperate on naval patrols and to hold violators accountable.

The resolution gives businesses and insurers a clearer risk picture, allowing them to plan routes with confidence. Governments can use the diplomatic backing to justify naval escorts, while traders can anticipate steadier oil prices thanks to reduced threat of disruption.
